Ellen DeGeneres becomes a virtual seal

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Before she takes on the Oscars, Ellen DeGeneres is going to frolic with some coastal wildlife. The 48-year-old comedian will become a "virtual seal" who heads up an environmentally conscious flock on the California Bay as part of a new Web site. The site includes an animated seal named after DeGeneres that promotes wildlife preservation as it shimmies along a cartoon seashore.
 
CNN gives Dobbs a more prominent role

NEW YORK (AP) - CNN is giving a newly prominent role to Lou Dobbs, one of its most popular and opinionated personalities, including a slot alongside Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper as an anchor of midterm election coverage next month.

NEW YORK (AP) - Broadcast networks have asked for a serious commitment this fall _ and so far viewers are balking. The five top broadcasters introduced 12 new hour-long dramas that are serials, mysteries or otherwise advance a larger story each week. They join several hits that already fall into that category, such as "Lost," "Prison Break" and "Desperate Housewives."
