Imaging expert to get honorary Oscar

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Computer-generated imaging expert Gary Demos will receive a Gordon E. Sawyer honorary Oscar, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday.

Shatner sells kidney stone for charity

LOS ANGELES (AP) - An online casino has a piece of Capt. Kirk. Actor William Shatner has sold his kidney stone for $25,000, with the money going to a housing charity, it was announced Tuesday. Shatner reached agreement Monday to sell the stone to GoldenPalace.com.

'Glory Road,' 'Hoodwinked' lead box-office

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The uplifting basketball tale "Glory Road" squeaked out a victory at the box office with a $16.93 million debut over the holiday weekend, finishing just ahead of the animated comedy "Hoodwinked," which took in $16.88 million.
