Graphic novel comes alive in 'Sin City'

NEW YORK (AP) - When Robert Rodriguez approached Frank Miller about adapting "Sin City," he knew he needed a great pitch. "I told him we shouldn't insult it by turning it into a movie. We gotta take cinema and turn it into this book," Rodriguez recalls.

Gere, Koizumi dance at Japan PM's office

TOKYO (AP) - Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi had only one request when Richard Gere visited his office: "Shall we dance?" Gere, who is in Japan to promote his latest film, the Hollywood remake of the Japanese box-office hit "Shall We Dance," accepted Koizumi's invitation, but insisted that he would lead.

Movie mogul helping Israel open university

JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel will open its first university in the Galilee, Vice Premier Shimon Peres announced Monday, after Israeli-American movie mogul Arnon Milchan contributed $100 million for the project.
