Cameron, Brewers agree on $7M deal

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Free-agent outfielder Mike Cameron and the Milwaukee Brewers reached a preliminary agreement on a $7 million, one-year contract that includes a club option for 2009.
 
MLB starts drug use investigative branch

NEW YORK (AP) - Major League Baseball launched a department of investigations Friday, a permanent branch of the commissioner's office. In his report last month on drug use in baseball, George Mitchell had recommended the formation of the unit. Adopting another of Mitchell's recommendations, MLB is establishing a tip line for team employees to make the commissioner's office aware of violations of drug, betting and other rules.
 
Astros haven't discussed Clemens

HOUSTON (AP) - Astros general manager Ed Wade and other team executives haven't discussed whether they'll ask Roger Clemens to join Nolan Ryan and Jeff Bagwell as an instructor at their annual pitching and hitting camp for prospects.
