Bonds hits 1st homer of year as Giants win

DENVER (AP) - Barry Bonds got to trot around the bases for a change, not just to first. Bonds homered for the first time this season, hitting No. 709 of his career to help the San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 6-4 Saturday night.

DENVER (AP) - Barry Bonds found his elusive power stroke in Denver's thin air. Bonds homered for the first time this season Saturday night at Coors Field, sending a belt-high fastball from right-hander Aaron Cook 384 feet to left for his 709th career home run.
 
Rangers win on Young's 9th-inning single

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Michael Young bailed out the Texas Rangers and closer Francisco Cordero. Young hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Rangers over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 6-5 on Saturday night. His game-winner came after Cordero gave up a three-run homer to Ty Wigginton with two outs in the top of the ninth.
