ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Vladimir Guerrero recorded his 1,000th career RBI in the first inning before hitting his fourth career grand slam and the Los Angeles Angels capitalized on two controversial rulings by first base umpire Bill Welke to beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 9-2 Saturday night.

BOSTON (AP) - All the Boston Red Sox needed was a strong effort from Curt Schilling so their weary bullpen could rest. Schilling allowed two hits and struck out nine in seven innings and David Ortiz snapped out of an RBI slump with his major league-leading 32nd homer and a two-run triple, leading the Red Sox to a 7-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday night.

Pettitte struck out 10 in seven sharp innings, Adam Everett had a career-high four hits and the Astros beat the Marlins 12-0 Saturday. The Marlins' previous worst shutout loss at Dolphin Stadium was an 11-0 setback to Atlanta on September 23, 1998.

Adam LaRoche homered twice and drove in five runs, including two on an 11th-inning double, to help the Braves to a wild 15-12 win over the Padres on Friday night in the highest-scoring game in Petco Park's three-year history.
