Maddux pitches 6 no-hit innings for L.A.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Rain kept Greg Maddux from having a memorable debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night. The 40-year-old right-hander didn't allow a hit over six innings then left after a rain delay and Los Angeles went on to beat the suddenly struggling Cincinnati Reds 3-0.

Morneau drives in 3 as Twins top Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Brad Radke left his previous start after three innings with a sore shoulder and a loss. The Minnesota Twins brought up right-hander Mike Smith from Triple-A Rochester in case Radke could not make the start or had an early exit against the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies singled in the first inning Thursday night, extending his hitting streak to 35 games. Utley lined a 2-2 pitch from Jason Marquis to center field and went to second when St. Louis center fielder So Taguchi bobbled the ball. Utley hit an RBI single off the first-base bag in the third to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead, and making him 6-for-11 against Marquis.

Upton sparks Devil Rays past Tigers
