Maine excels, Reyes slams as Mets win

NEW YORK (AP) - Lately, it seems John Maine is getting more of a challenge from the Sudoku puzzle in the paper than opposing hitters. Maine prepared for his first start in 11 days by doing the numbers puzzle in the clubhouse, then went out and extended his scoreless streak to 23 innings as the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-1 on Sunday night.
 
Giles helps Padres top Nationals in 10

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Brian Giles was too much for the Washington Nationals on Sunday. Giles hit a two-run homer and singled home Dave Roberts in the 10th inning, lifting the San Diego Padres to a 3-2 victory.

Cameron helps Padres beat Nationals 6-3

SAN DIEGO (AP) - On his way to becoming the career saves leader, Trevor Hoffman broke another one of Lee Smith's records. Hoffman set a major league record with his 11th 30-save season and the San Diego Padres defeated the Washington Nationals 6-3 on Saturday night.
