Garko had his first homer and drove in four runs to help Cliff Lee win for the first time in nearly a month, leading the Cleveland Indians over the Los Angeles Angels 14-2 Thursday night.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Bronson Arroyo got braids in his hair, hoping to end a long slump and a big series in style. The new hairdo didn't do a thing. Scott Spiezio hit the last of the Cardinals' three homers off Arroyo on Thursday, and St. Louis gained a soothing series split with a 6-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds that left the NL Central rivals right where they started.

NEW YORK (AP) - At his age, Orlando Hernandez takes his starts inning by inning. Add them up, and they have produced some strong outings for the New York Mets. Hernandez won his fourth straight decision Thursday, allowing four hits in seven innings in a 7-3 win over San Diego that stretched New York's NL East lead to a season-high 14 games.
 
Brewers' bats too much for Prior, Cubs
