Boston recalled right-hander Jermaine Van Buren from Triple-A Pawtucket and designated righty Rudy Seanez for assignment. New York called up righty Jeff Karstens and outfielder Aaron Guiel from Triple-A Columbus and designated righty Sidney Ponson for assignment and optioned righty Brian Bruney to Columbus.
