Pierzynski homered twice, Paul Konerko, Juan Uribe and even Scott Podsednik also connected, and Chicago scored five times in the first inning Tuesday en route to a 14-2 rout of the World Series champion Red Sox in their playoff opener.

He knew what was coming and, frankly, he was a little tired of talking about it. Tigers fire manager Alan Trammell

DETROIT (AP) - Alan Trammell is out and Jim Leyland might be in as manager of the Detroit Tigers. Trammell was fired Monday after three seasons in which he failed to turn around a franchise without a winning record since 1993.
