'Krazy' inventor of the Wave celebrates

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Krazy George Henderson has spent the last quarter-century trying to persuade everyone that he debuted the "Wave" during an Oakland Athletics' playoff game against the Yankees _ not those Washington football fans who claim the Huskies first performed the now famous cheer.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Kenny Rogers has company. This is hardly the first World Series to be smudged by one strange play or disputed decision. There was Mike Piazza's shattered bat six years ago, Don Denkinger's missed call in 1985 and Reggie Jackson's brazen baserunning at Yankee Stadium in '78.
 
Will NLCS MVP Suppan pitch big again?

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Jeff Suppan is the St. Louis Cardinals' big-game pitcher, the MVP of the NL championship series who is used to the pressure of series clinchers. Detroit's Jeremy Bonderman is well rested and has a 3.00 ERA in two starts for the Tigers this postseason, including a clincher of his own. It appears to be a pretty even pitching matchup for Game 4 _ except in one regard. Suppan can handle the bat.
