Belichick won't discuss Brady's health

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick stayed true to form Thursday, refusing to discuss Tom Brady's health a few days after the quarterback was photographed limping in New York with a cast on his right foot.
 
Bucs' Alstott retires after 12 years

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Six-time Pro Bowl fullback Mike Alstott announced his retirement after 12 seasons Thursday, saying goodbye to the NFL during a tearful news conference in a meeting room where the Buccaneers played a highlight film of some of his most memorable plays.
 
Falcons hire Jags' Smith as new coach

ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta Falcons' new rookie coach already is sounding like the veteran who took the team to its only Super Bowl. Mike Smith, the former Jacksonville defensive coordinator hired by the Falcons on Wednesday night, could have been reading from former Atlanta coach Dan Reeves' script.
 
Chargers' Rivers has surgery on torn ACL

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had surgery Wednesday to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. David Chao of the team's medical staff. Rivers will rehab for up to six months.
