Aug 20 2005 11:34PM (CT)
DENVER (AP) - Jake Plummer was close to perfect for the Denver Broncos. Tim Rattay, meanwhile, looked more than good enough to keep San Francisco's starting quarterback job in limbo for a while longer. Ramsey makes big plays - both good and bad
Aug 20 2005 11:25PM (CT)
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Patrick Ramsey improved, but only from ineffective to inconsistent. The Washington Redskins quarterback demonstrated some long-ball chemistry with new receiver David Patten, completed four passes for 20-plus yards after having none the previous week, and led his first two scoring drives of the preseason. He also connected with James Thrash on a nice post-pattern touchdown while accumulating 190 yards passing in just one half of play.

Steelers smash fumbling Dolphins 17-3
Aug 20 2005 10:50PM (CT)
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Nick Saban must be wondering why he left LSU for this. The Miami Dolphins lost five fumbles in the first half and seven overall in a miserably played game, exhibition or not, and the Pittsburgh Steelers had just enough offense to capitalize in a 17-3 victory Saturday night.

Aug 20 2005 10:43PM (CT)
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Chicago's backups were better than Indianapolis' starters. Adrian Peterson and Antoineo Harris each ran for a touchdown, the Bears returned a punt for another TD and the Colts' high-scoring offense never got in sync as Chicago held on for a 24-17 victory Saturday night.

Texans tip Raiders 19-17
Aug 20 2005 10:29PM (CT)
HOUSTON (AP) - Randy Moss has yet to show flash or find the end zone. In the meantime, Doug Gabriel did plenty of both for the Oakland Raiders on Saturday night. Gabriel scored two first-quarter touchdowns and the Raiders' starting offense moved the ball at will in the first half before the Texans rallied to win the preseason game 19-17 on a pair of fourth-quarter field goals of 53 and 46 yards by Kris Brown. The winner came with eight seconds left.
