CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Carolina Panthers were building a comfortable lead against Green Bay, but coach John Fox didn't dare let his team back down. Not with Brett Favre in the game. Favre didn't disappoint, throwing four touchdown passes and nearly rallying the Packers out of a 19-point hole.
 
Manning passes Giants past Rams 44-24

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Eli Manning is giving his more accomplished older sibling a challenge for family bragging rights. The New York Giants' second-year quarterback had his second straight outstanding performance Sunday, throwing for 296 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in a 44-24 win over the St. Louis Rams.

Eagles' McNabb may set record for passes

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Donovan McNabb is fortunate a sore arm isn't among his assortment of injuries. After four games, McNabb is on pace to throw 696 passes this season, which would break the NFL record of 691 set by Drew Bledsoe with New England in 1994. If the Philadelphia Eagles don't start running the ball more frequently, the team's medical staff might have to monitor McNabb's shoulder as closely as his sports hernia.

Favre threw four touchdown passes but couldn't overcome two early turnovers that the Carolina Panthers used to build a big lead and then held on for a 32-29 victory.
 
Packers WR Terrence Murphy hospitalized

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Green Bay Packers receiver Terrence Murphy injured his neck during the second quarter of Monday night's 32-29 loss to the Carolina Panthers and was to be hospitalized for at least one night.
