CINCINNATI (AP) - With one wobbly pass, Philip Rivers completed one of the San Diego Chargers' greatest comebacks _ the kind that defines a young quarterback. And, maybe, a season as well. Rivers' shovel pass under pressure finished a 42-point second half by the Chargers on Sunday, setting up a 49-41 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals that left everyone at a loss for words.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Bill Belichick exchanged another cold handshake with Eric Mangini in the middle of the muddy field. The Patriots coach certainly had no reason to embrace the protege who angered him by leaving for the New York Jets. After all, the Jets had just won 17-14 on a rainy Sunday, tightening the AFC East race that once loomed as a runaway for New England.

Romo threw for 308 yards _ the most of his young career as a starter _ and two touchdowns, including a 51-yarder to Terrell Owens, and the Dallas Cowboys dominated Arizona 27-10 on Sunday.

The veteran threw his third touchdown of the game against his former team with 3:35 left Sunday, helping the Ravens rally from a big deficit to beat the Tennessee Titans 27-26 for their best start. The Ravens are 7-2 for the first time after trailing by 19 points _ the biggest comeback in team history. And McNair had a lot to do with it.

Rams' Pace out with torn arm muscle

SEATTLE (AP) - St. Louis Rams lost Pro Bowl left tackle Orlando Pace for the season after he tore his left triceps Sunday against Seattle. Pace left in the second quarter of the Rams' 24-22 loss to the Seahawks, dropping them two games back in the NFC West. The Rams announced the injury at halftime as a torn biceps muscle, but afterward Pace and coach Scott Linehan said he tore his triceps. Pace's arm was wrapped and immobilized and said he'll have an MRI on Monday.

Frank Gore set a franchise record with 148 yards rushing in the first half and scored on a 61-yard run before leaving with a concussion, and Joe Nedney made all four of his field-goal attempts to give the 49ers a 19-13 victory Sunday.

MIAMI (AP) - Confronted one-on-one with bruising Larry Johnson in the open field near the goal line, Channing Crowder buried his helmet into the running back's chest for a touchdown-saving tackle. Then, Crowder rose and broke into a celebratory dance. "It was a good tackle, so I did a little shimmy for him," Crowder said. There were many such jubilant moments Sunday for the Miami Dolphins' defense, which stymied Johnson and harried Damon Huard to beat the Kansas City Chiefs 13-10.

Portis leaves game with broken hand

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis broke his right hand in the first half of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Portis, who rushed for 25 yards on six carries, left late in the first quarter of Philadelphia's 27-3 victory over Washington and did not return. Portis entered with 498 yards rushing and seven touchdowns in seven games.
