Mavericks extend winning streak to 9

HOUSTON (AP) - Jason Terry hit a go-ahead jumper with 1:09 remaining and made two free throws in the final seconds to give the Dallas Mavericks an 80-77 win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday night, extending their winning streak to nine games.
 
76ers playing only for draft picks

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The only thing fans want the Philadelphia 76ers to win these days is the draft lottery. The playoffs are far out of reach for the third-worst team in the NBA, so winning games won't do anything except lower the number of available ping pong balls.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Gilbert Arenas' bold-talking, high-scoring first half of the season ended with a whimper. Arenas struggled with his shot _ again _ scoring 22 points on 8-for-26 shooting, and the Washington Wizards broke open a close game in the fourth quarter and held on for a 92-85 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
