Deng bullish with 38 despite losing bet

CHICAGO (AP) - Luol Deng lost a friendly wager and now he owes a teammate dinner. The way Deng played, the Chicago Bulls should pick up the tab. Deng scored a career-high 38 points, and the Bulls won their third straight, beating the Portland Trail Blazers 100-89 on Monday night.
 
Boozer scores career-high 41; Jazz rally

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Carlos Boozer scored 16 of his career-high 41 points in the fourth quarter and added 16 rebounds to help the Utah Jazz rally for a 103-97 victory over the Washington Wizards on Monday night.
 
Bell, Suns add to Memphis' road woes

PHOENIX (AP) - Raja Bell hit six 3-pointers and scored 29 points, Amare Stoudemire had 27 points and 12 rebounds, and the Phoenix Suns added to lowly Memphis' road woes, beating the short-handed Grizzlies 105-87 Monday night.

HOUSTON (AP) - For a team that had just clinched a playoff spot with its sixth straight home victory, the Houston Rockets didn't seem very happy. Tracy McGrady scored 22 points and had nine assists in Houston's 106-87 rout on the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night _ then the All-Star left the arena before speaking to reporters.

NEW YORK (AP) - With one big block, Dwight Howard boosted Orlando's playoff chances and severely damaged New York's. But was it actually a block? Howard's questionable rejection kept the game tied in the final minute, and Jameer Nelson followed with a 3-pointer with 38 second remaining that helped the Magic send the Knicks to their season-high fourth straight loss, 94-89 Monday night.
 
Raptors lose game, Garbajosa to injury

BOSTON (AP) - Facing a nine-point deficit in the closing minutes, the Toronto Raptors were headed toward a loss. Then one flukey play might have cost them much more. Paul Pierce scored 23 points and Al Jefferson added 22 points and nine rebounds to help the Boston Celtics beat Toronto 95-87 on Monday. The Raptors also lost Spanish rookie Jorge Garbajosa to a left ankle injury that put him in the hospital.

MIAMI (AP) - After one particularly hard foul sent Shaquille O'Neal tumbling, the 7-foot-1 center rolled into a backward somersault before bouncing to his feet. "I'm known as The Big Baryshnikov," O'Neal said afterward, proud of his newest self-dubbed moniker. Suffice to say, no ballet ever called for Mikhail Baryshnikov to take this kind of punishment.
