Pistons keep complaining about officiating

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Pistons are renowned for their resilience. If the defending champions don't rally from a 2-0 deficit against San Antonio in the NBA Finals, however, they might be as well known for their whining.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The San Antonio Spurs have a 2-0 lead over the Detroit Pistons in the NBA finals, and they have history on their side: only two teams have overcome such a deficit to win the championship, the last time nearly three decades ago.

Bird has surgery on broken nose

SEATTLE (AP) - Seattle Storm guard Sue Bird had surgery on her broken nose Monday, the team said. Bird sustained a broken nose and broken right orbital bone when she was elbowed by teammate Lauren Jackson with 3 minutes left in Seattle's loss at Connecticut last Tuesday. It was the first game of a four-game road trip.

Pistons buried by Spurs first half

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Chauncey Billups couldn't score, Richard Hamilton couldn't stop complaining and Detroit's vaunted defense couldn't stop San Antonio from scoring at will in the first half. All of it left the defending champion Pistons in a huge hole in the NBA Finals after Sunday night's 97-76 loss to the Spurs in Game 2.
