Now, at age 32, the leading scorer in American women's pro basketball history has had to change roles. Smith had her best game as a point guard on Saturday, finishing with 17 points and a career-high nine assists as the Detroit Shock beat the Washington Mystics 92-86.

Mabika helps Sparks swat Monarchs 77-63

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Mwadi Mabika's opponents said she was getting up in age. But against the Sacramento Monarchs, it seemed as if the Congo native is getting better with time. Mabika had 24 points to lead the Sparks to a 77-63 victory over the Monarchs on Saturday night, shooting 11-for-19 from the field in 34 minutes.

Thompson helps Comets beat Sting 85-70
