Lakers take 17-year-old center at No. 10

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) - Instead of shooting for immediate help following one of the worst seasons in franchise history, the Los Angeles Lakers looked to the future Tuesday night, making 17-year-old center Andrew Bynum the youngest player ever taken in the NBA draft.

Suns trade Richardson to Knicks for Thomas

Bucks select Bogut first in NBA draft

NEW YORK (AP) - It sure was a g'day for Andrew Bogut. And not a bad night for the NCAA champions from North Carolina. Bogut, a 7-foot center from Australia, was chosen No. 1 Tuesday night in the NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, becoming the first player in five years with U.S. college experience to be drafted No. 1 overall.

Knicks draft center 20 years after Ewing

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Knicks ever-changing roster got another major makeover on draft night. The Knicks picked Arizona center Channing Frye with the eighth overall selection in the NBA draft Tuesday night, and were on the verge of completing a trade that would bring Phoenix Suns shooting guard Quentin Richardson to New York.

Hawks take M. Williams, another 6-9 player

ATLANTA (AP) - Marvin Williams certainly looks like a lot of his new teammates on the Atlanta Hawks. Yep, another 6-foot-9 forward. But the woebegone Hawks, who need all the help they can get at center and point guard, weren't concerned about creating a logjam at that other position when they selected Williams with the No. 2 pick of the NBA draft Tuesday night.
