Isiah Thomas trial slated for September

NEW YORK (AP) - A judge, while raising the possibility of an out-of-court settlement, ruled the sexual harassment case against New York Knicks coach and general manager Isiah Thomas will go before a jury this year.

Jackson helps Storm defeat Sparks 90-71

SEATTLE (AP) - The idea of playing at least the next two weeks without teammate Sue Bird brought a frown to face of Seattle's Lauren Jackson. "I don't want to play without her," Jackson said. "She's my best mate." Jackson didn't have reason to be disappointed with her effort Tuesday night. The All-Star starter burned the Sparks again, scoring 11 of her 23 points in the third quarter of the Storm's 90-71 win over Los Angeles.

Report: Sonics poised to name new coach

SEATTLE (AP) - The Seattle SuperSonics appear set to pluck another piece from the San Antonio Spurs. The Sonics have scheduled a Thursday news conference amid reports that the team has hired P.J. Carlesimo as its new head coach. Team officials refused to comment Tuesday on a report that first appeared on the San Antonio Express-News Web site, which said Carlesimo had been chosen by Sonics ownership.

Pistons to re-sign Billups in $60M deal
