Report: Celtics give Pierce $60 million

BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Celtics have agreed to terms with forward Paul Pierce on a three-year contract extension worth almost $60 million, according to a newspaper report.
 
Odom, Pierce to miss training camp

NEW YORK (AP) - This time, the United States is prepared to handle player withdrawals. USA Basketball announced Thursday that Lamar Odom and Paul Pierce would miss training camp later this month. Another player, J.J. Redick, had recently said he wouldn't take part when camp opens in Las Vegas on July 19 because he has been out with a back injury.
 
East finally wins WNBA All-Star game

NEW YORK (AP) - Katie Douglas and her Connecticut Sun teammates gave the Eastern Conference its first WNBA All-Star game victory. Douglas scored 16 points, Lindsay Whalen and Taj McWilliams-Franklin had 10 points apiece and 7-foot-2 center Margo Dydek had nine rebounds and four blocks to lead the East to a 98-82 over the West on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.
