NBA stars in Houston for hurricane relief

HOUSTON (AP) - Chris LaRoche doesn't have any clothes, toys or a place to go home to, but on Sunday the 12-year-old's dream came true when he played basketball against LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Chauncey Billups, Ron Artest and a host of other NBA stars.

Monarchs, Sun to play for WNBA title

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The Sacramento Monarchs earned the city's first chance for a basketball championship. Yolanda Griffith scored 19 points and Kara Lawson had 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists Saturday, leading the Monarchs to a sweep of the Western Conference finals with a 74-65 win over the Houston Comets.
 
Sun sweep Fever with 77-67 OT victory

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Margo Dydek had four of her 12 points in overtime and Katie Douglas made five free throws in the final 40 seconds to lead the Connecticut Sun to a sweep of the Eastern Conference finals with a 77-67 win over the Indiana Fever on Saturday.
