CHICAGO (AP) - Ben Gordon scored a career-high 40 points off the bench to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 109-103 victory Wednesday night over the short-handed Miami Heat, who lost Dwyane Wade to a sprained wrist in the first quarter.

ATLANTA (AP) - Trips to Atlanta have a way of making the Cleveland Cavaliers forget that they usually struggle on the road. The Cavaliers have won only four of 12 road games this season, but two of those wins have come in Atlanta _ including Wednesday night's 89-76 victory over the slumping Hawks.

Gilbert Arenas scored 39 points and outdueled Gerald Wallace down the stretch as the Washington Wizards beat the Charlotte Bobcats 114-107 on Wednesday night for their fourth straight victory.
 
Lakers beat struggling Magic 106-93

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The Los Angeles Lakers didn't need Kobe Bryant's jumper during crunch time. They had Smush Parker. Parker scored a season-high 20 points _ 18 of them in the third quarter _ and Bryant had 27 points and seven assists to help the Lakers beat the Orlando Magic 106-93 Wednesday night.
 
Rockets dominate Nets in 96-71 victory

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - For one night, Shane Battier's shooting and some very good defense helped the Houston Rockets forget they will be playing without Yao Ming for a while. Battier hit a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points, and the Rockets limited the New Jersey Nets to 33 percent shooting in a 96-71 victory Wednesday night.
 
NBA fines Kidd $20K for 'blind' comment

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Baron Davis treated his grandmother to a good show with the help of his former college teammate Matt Barnes. Davis had 21 points and 16 assists to lead the Golden State Warriors to their fourth straight home victory, 116-97 over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. Barnes tied a franchise record with seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points.
 
SuperSonics top limping Hornets, 102-94

SEATTLE (AP) - Short of being a consistently winning team, the Seattle SuperSonics have still found a way to turn their oft-trashed home court into a house of horrors for opponents. Ankles had better beware. Luke Ridnour had 27 points and nine assists Tuesday night to lead the SuperSonics to a 102-94 victory over the limping New Orleans Hornets, who lost rookie of the year Chris Paul indefinitely to a sprained right ankle in the first quarter.

Defense puts Pacers over Rockets, 81-76

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Pacers played their best defensive game of the season to spoil Tracy McGrady's return to the Houston lineup. McGrady finished with 19 points but shot 7-for-22 from the field in the Pacers' 81-76 victory Tuesday night. He had seven turnovers, including two critical ones in the final two minutes while the Rockets were trying to come back.
 
Billups lifts Pistons over Nets, 92-91

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - For most of Tuesday night, the Detroit Pistons were angry about the officiating. In the end, though, the New Jersey Nets were the ones screaming. Chauncey Billups made two free throws with 7.2 seconds left, and Vince Carter didn't get a last-second call as the Pistons won their fifth straight, 92-91.
 
Suns hand Trail Blazers 2nd loss, 110-87

PHOENIX (AP) - Leandro Barbosa is known as "The Brazilian Blur" because of his dazzling speed. On Tuesday night, the Portland Trail Blazers got a taste of what Barbosa can accomplish when he gets running up and down the court. Barbosa scored 20 points during a 6:21 span bridging the third and fourth quarters, and the Phoenix Suns beat the Trail Blazers 110-87 for their 16th win in 17 tries.
