Richards the difference against Devils

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Brad Richards took care of the New Jersey Devils on a night Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis were held largely in check. Richards scored both goals in regulation and had the only tally in the shootout to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-2 victory over the Devils on Thursday night.
 
Bruins rally past Penguins in shootout

BOSTON (AP) - Phil Kessel stole the spotlight from Sidney Crosby's first game in Boston this season. In his sixth game back after missing nearly a month following surgery for testicular cancer, Kessel scored a winning goal in the shootout to lead the Boston Bruins to a 5-4 victory over Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night.
 
Luongo lifts Canucks to 3rd straight win

OTTAWA (AP) - Roberto Luongo came up with all the saves the Vancouver Canucks needed to win, especially when their offense spent the entire third period in their own zone. Luongo made 34 saves, Rory Fitzpatrick scored his first goal of the season and Vancouver beat the Ottawa Senators 2-1 on Thursday night.
 
Panthers can't do much against Raycroft

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - The Toronto Maple Leafs got off to a good start on a three-game road trip. Andrew Raycroft stopped 39 shots and the Maple Leafs defeated the Florida Panthers 3-2 on Thursday night.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The New York Islanders found the perfect time to snap their losing streak. Mike Sillinger and Andy Hilbert scored 1:18 apart early in the third period to help the Islanders beat Philadelphia 4-2 Thursday night to snap a three game losing streak and hand the Flyers their seventh straight loss.
 
Mason records 5th shutout this season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Chris Mason made 33 saves for a career-high and franchise-record fifth shutout this season, and David Legwand and Paul Kariya each had a goal and an assist as the Nashville Predators beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-0 Thursday night.
 
Caps avoid worst road skid in 30 years

Red Wings tighten Central with win
