Welcome back Kaberle: Canes beat Habs

MONTREAL (AP) - Frantisek Kaberle picked up right where he left off last season. Kaberle, who scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal last spring, scored midway through the third period in his first game of the season, helping the Carolina Hurricanes end a four-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
 
King finally scores, but Lightning win

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Mike Weaver finally scored his first NHL goal. Unfortunately for him, it came in the latest loss by the struggling Los Angeles Kings. Vincent Lecavalier scored his 34th goal and connected in the shootout, leading the Tampa Bay Lightning past Los Angeles 3-2 on Tuesday night.
 
Coyotes weather the storm; beat Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Not even a winter storm that delayed the start of the game could stop the Phoenix Coyotes. Curtis Joseph made 28 saves for his 50th career shutout as the Coyotes beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 Wednesday night.
 
Ovechkin takes blame for Caps' loss

WASHINGTON (AP) - Alex Ovechkin called it the worst game of his career. Not so much because the reigning rookie of the year only took two shots and went scoreless for a third consecutive outing, his longest NHL drought _ although that clearly bothered him.

Briere, Miller key Sabres' shootout win

ATLANTA (AP) - Daniel Briere took care of the scoring. Ryan Miller thwarted two of the league's most dangerous players in the shootout. Briere had two goals in regulation and another in the shootout, leading the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday night.
 
Zubov, Stars rally past Wild 4-2

DALLAS (AP) - Sergei Zubov scored a tiebreaking goal on the power play with 4:41 left and the Dallas Stars overcame a two-goal deficit to beat Minnesota 4-2 Tuesday night, snapping the Wild's three-game winning streak.
 
Steen, Maple Leafs hold off Blues 2-1
