Ribeiro stars in overtime as Dallas wins

DALLAS (AP) - Mike Modano failed to add to his U.S. goal-scoring record, but teammate Mike Ribeiro picked up the slack. Ribeiro scored two goals, including the game-winner with 40 seconds left in overtime, to send the Dallas Stars to a 5-4 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday night.

Avs making playoffs not so far-fetched

DENVER (AP) - Catching Calgary doesn't seem so far-fetched anymore. Milan Hejduk scored 19 seconds into overtime and the Colorado Avalanche overcame a two-goal deficit to beat the San Jose Sharks 4-3 on Sunday night as they improved to 8-0-1 in their past nine games.

Ruutu unlikely hero as Pens beat Sens

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Jarkko Ruutu is the Pittsburgh Penguins' fourth-line winger, a player with 30 career goals in parts of seven seasons. But now he has become a go-to guy in the shootout. Ruutu's backhand move got the puck past goalie Ray Emery and Pittsburgh tied the Ottawa Senators for fourth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race with a 4-3 win Sunday night.

ATLANTA (AP) - Kari Lehtonen never intended to leave the game after a slap shot glanced off his mask and gave him a screaming pain in his right ear. More than anything else, Lehtonen was angry that the injury gave Buffalo the split-second needed to tie the score in the third period.

(AP) - Kimmo Timonen scored two goals and established a career high for points in a season to lead the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday night, spoiling Mike Modano's record-breaking night. Modano scored two goals to pass Joe Mullen and become the highest scoring American-born player with 503 career goals.
