Ducks rookies score 1st goals in 3-1 win

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Petteri Wirtanen, the last player cut by Anaheim after training camp, scored the go-ahead goal 4:47 into the third period of his NHL debut and the Ducks beat the Nashville Predators 3-1 on Wednesday night.
 
Thrashers ax Hartley amid losing streak

ATLANTA (AP) - A six-game losing streak to start this season put Bob Hartley's job in danger. A quick ouster in last season's playoffs did not help his cause. Hartley was fired Wednesday as coach of the Atlanta Thrashers, the only NHL team without a victory.
