Rookie Wall impressive in Ducks' 5-3 win

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - When Michael Wall was 11, he attended his first NHL game in Edmonton and marveled at Oilers goalie Bill Ranford and Detroit counterpart Chris Osgood. Now it's Wall's turn, and the rookie made quite an impression in his first game with the Anaheim Ducks.
 
Drury helps Sabres top Rangers 3-2 in OT

NEW YORK (AP) - In Buffalo, losing streaks start and end at one. After the Sabres squandered a two-goal lead late in regulation, Chris Drury deflected in Teppo Numminen's shot 1:36 into overtime and Buffalo rebounded from a rare loss with a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday night.
 
Lightning beat Sens for 3rd straight win

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The Tampa Bay Lightning looked for a reliable goalie last offseason. They might have found one in Johan Holmqvist. Holmqvist made 22 saves to win for the eighth time in his last nine starts, leading the Lightning past the Ottawa Senators 3-1 on Sunday.
 
Power plays put Kings over Flames, 3-1

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Kings hope their latest victory is a sign of good things to come. Alexander Frolov got the go-ahead goal in the second period, and Michael Cammalleri and rookie Anze Kopitar cashed in on power plays for the Kings in a 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night.
 
Wolski powers Avs over Canucks 4-1

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Joe Thornton jumped on the ice during a brief moment of miscommunication on San Jose's bench. Then he jumped on a turnover and turned it into a crucial goal. Thornton picked off an errant pass and scored midway through the third period, lifting the Sharks to a 2-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The defense is providing much of the offense for the Nashville Predators this season. The youth of the defensive unit, led by Kimmo Timonen, the only player on the unit with more than two years of NHL experience, prompted concerns about their ability. While some of those concerns have been realized, there is no question that they can score.
 
Red-hot Perreault lifts Coyotes

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Yankic Perreault knew better than to rush what turned out to be the winning shot. He settled a bouncing puck high in the slot before blasting it into a vacated St. Louis goal to break a tie late in the second period and lead Phoenix to a 2-1 victory Saturday night.
