Iginla's 5 points ignites Flames

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Jerome Iginla scored two goals and assisted on three others and the Calgary Flames downed the Phoenix Coyotes 6-3 on Saturday night. The five-point performance was a career best for Iginla, who had a four-point game against Phoenix on Feb. 23, 2003.

Kariya carries Predators past Blues

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Paul Kariya scored the only goal in a shootout and the Predators beat the St. Louis Blues 3-2 on Saturday night. Kariya, who also scored a power-play goal in regulation, beat Manny Legace with a high shot for the game winner.
 
Hurricanes stop losing streak at 5

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The Carolina Hurricanes haven't been playing like the defending Stanley Cup champions. A team meeting resulted in a step back in that direction. Eric Staal scored the go-ahead goal, Cam Ward had 30 saves, and the Hurricanes stopped a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.

Caps hand Flyers their 6th straight loss

WASHINGTON (AP) - Inspired by the return of Peter Forsberg, the Philadelphia Flyers began their bid to end a five-game losing streak by scoring first against the Washington Capitals. By the end of the first period, the lead was gone. So was Forsberg, who missed the final 40 minutes with a concussion after absorbing a wicked hit from Washington's Alex Ovechkin.
 
Panthers' big 3rd period defeats Bruins

BOSTON (AP) - The Florida Panthers don't look like one of the NHL's worst teams when they play the Boston Bruins. Jozef Stumpel scored his second power-play goal of the game 4:10 into the final period to break a tie, and the Panthers went on to defeat the Bruins 6-3 on Saturday night.
 
DiPietro blanks Thrashers with 37 saves

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - The New York Islanders added to the Atlanta Thrashers' misery. Rick DiPietro stopped 37 shots for his second shutout of the season, and Shawn Bates, Viktor Kozlov and Mike Sillinger each had a goal and an assist in the Islanders' 6-0 victory over the Thrashers on Saturday night.
 
Forsberg returns, then knocked out

WASHINGTON (AP) - Philadelphia Flyers captain Peter Forsberg returned to the ice Saturday night after finally finding a skate to accommodate his surgically repaired right ankle, but a concussion knocked him out of the game against the Washington Capitals.

Avs beat Oilers for 3rd straight win

DENVER (AP) - Colorado goaltender Peter Budaj nearly paid for not playing it safe. But after he gave up a soft goal to Edmonton's Marc-Andre Pouliot in the first period, teammate Milan Hejduk tied it, Budaj buckled down and the Avalanche went on to a 4-1 win over the Oilers on Friday night.
