Soccer riot leaves police officer dead

CATANIA, Sicily (AP) - A police officer was killed Friday when fans rioted at a Serie A game between Sicilian sides Catania and Palermo, prompting the Italian soccer federation to postpone all league matches this weekend and cancel next week's national team exhibition game against Romania.

U.S. finalizes roster for Mexico game

CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Midfielders Clint Dempsey and Bobby Convey, defender Carlos Bocanegra and goalkeeper Tim Howard were picked Friday for the 20-man roster for the United States' exhibition game against Mexico next week.
