Man U takes 9-point Premier League lead

LONDON (AP) - Manchester United won 2-1 at Fulham on Cristiano Ronaldo's 88th-minute goal Saturday, moving nine points ahead of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League. Brian McBride opened the scoring at home for Fulham, and Ryan Giggs tied the score for United midway through the first half. Ronaldo then sent a deflected shot into the net.
 
Zidane plays in charity event

CHIANG MAI, Thailand (AP) - Zinedine Zidane played soccer at a charity event Saturday in his first game since the 2006 World Cup, brushing off questions about coming out of retirement. There was speculation the three-time FIFA World Player of the Year might follow former Real Madrid teammate David Beckham and play in the United States.

Priests and seminarians from several soccer-loving countries took to a field near the looming dome of St. Peter's Basilica Saturday for the first match of the Clericus Cup, a tournament fielding 16 teams from Catholic institutes in Rome.
