MILWAUKEE (AP) - Somewhere, Jim Boeheim figured, Al McGuire must be cringing. After his team upset No. 15 Marquette 70-58 on Sunday night, the Syracuse coach fondly recalled a whirlwind tour of Milwaukee that McGuire took him on as a visiting assistant coach in the 1970s.

No. 19 Vols hold off Mississippi State

Lofton scored 11 of his 21 points in the final 6:21 and freshman Duke Crews added a season-high 18 points to help the No. 19 Volunteers open the Southeastern Conference slate with a 92-84 win over the Bulldogs on Sunday.
 
Utah hands No. 25 Lobos 49-48 loss

PITTSBURGH (AP) - This might not be the best Pitt team since the Panthers returned to being a Big East power six years ago. Or the most stylish. It might be the deepest. Pittsburgh overcame another ineffective game by star Aaron Gray, turning to a smaller unit to open an 11-point lead over South Florida in the first half, and the No. 10 Panthers were never pushed after that in a 69-48 victory Sunday.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - In 1974, Ernie Kent played for an Oregon team that upset No. 1 UCLA. Thirty-three years later, Kent sobbed when his Ducks again knocked off the top-ranked Bruins. "This is a together basketball team," the Oregon coach said after the 16th-ranked Ducks handed UCLA its first loss of the season, 68-66 on Saturday. "Their spirit is unbelievable."
 
Washington State stuns No. 7 Arizona

(AP) - Washington State had not won an overtime game in eight tries, had not beaten such a highly ranked opponent at home in 24 years, and gave up a 7-point lead in the final minute to force overtime against No. 7 Arizona. No problem for the Cougars, who scored the first six points in overtime and held on to edge Arizona 77-73 in overtime. It was only their second win over the Wildcats in the last 43 meetings.

Acie Law helps No. 11 Aggies hold on

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Acie Law just wanted another chance. After missing two free throws with 19 seconds left that would have secured No. 11 Texas A&M's win, Law got his chance and made two from the line with 7 seconds to go to help the Aggies beat Kansas State 69-65 on Saturday night.
