RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A political opponent of the prosecutor who brought sexual assault charges against three Duke lacrosse players filed an affidavit Friday seeking to remove him from office.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Shelby Metcalf, whose homespun humor often overshadowed his penchant for winning basketball games at Texas A&M, died after a long illness. He was 76. Metcalf died Thursday at a College Station hospital, the university said.
 
Wisconsin, Bielema ink $7.5M contract

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin football coach Bret Bielema was rewarded Friday for his highly successful first season with a new five-year, $7.5 million contract. The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents approved an amended contract on Friday that will increase Bielema's salary from $750,000 to $1.3 million this year.
