John Wooden fractures wrist, collarbone

LOS ANGELES (AP) - John Wooden broke his left wrist and collarbone in a fall, leaving the former UCLA basketball coach hospitalized Friday. Daughter Nan Muehlhausen said the 97-year-old Wooden fell in his condominium Thursday night. She said Wooden was resting comfortably in a hospital and visited with family members throughout the day.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Julian Betko scored a career-high 17 points, all in the first half, and No. 14 Butler held off Wright State 66-61 Thursday night to clinch the No. 1 seed in next week's Horizon League tournament.

No. 13 Louisville edges Notre Dame 90-85

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - David Padgett made sure Louisville brought a little order to the jumbled mess at the top of the Big East. Padgett scored a season-high 26 points and Earl Clark added 14 points and nine rebounds as No. 13 Louisville (23-6, 13-3 Big East) survived No. 17 Notre Dame 90-85 Thursday. The Cardinals' eighth-straight victory moved them into a tie for first in the Big East with No. 11 Georgetown with two games remaining.
 
No. 22 Washington State beats Cal 70-49

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - Taylor Rochestie scored 18 points, Kyle Weaver added 17 and defense-minded No. 22 Washington State showed off its offensive skills as well in a 70-49 victory over California on Thursday night.
