SEATTLE (AP) - Kendra Wecker, the Big 12 player of the year, scored 18 of her 25 points in the second half to lead fourth-seeded Kansas State past 13th-seeded Bowling Green 70-60 Saturday night in opening round of the NCAA tournament.
 
Utah women shoot past Iowa State 73-61

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Once Utah finally found its shooting touch, the Utes showed just why they are so dangerous from long range. Kim Smith had 22 points and eight rebounds and 10th-seeded Utah rallied from a 15-point first-half deficit to beat Iowa State 73-61 in the first round of the Kansas City Regional on Saturday night.
 
Vanderbilt women beat Montana 67-44

SEATTLE (AP) - Montana was determined to take away the inside presence of Vanderbilt's Ashley Earley. For a half, the Commodores' Abi Ramsey made Montana pay for that strategy. Earley waited until the second half to take over.
 
Stanford women beat Santa Clara 94-57

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Candice Wiggins celebrated a second-half steal and layup with a jumping fist pump and giant grin. Then she did it again. Take that, selection committee. Stanford's freshman star played brilliantly in her NCAA tournament debut, scoring 16 of her 29 points in a dominant second-half outburst that carried the top-ranked Cardinal to their 21st straight victory, 94-57 over neighbor Santa Clara in the first round of the Kansas City Regional on Saturday night.
 
W. Va. stuns Wake Forest 111-105 in 2OT

CLEVELAND (AP) - Shooting at baskets he practiced on all summer, former Cleveland prep star Mike Gansey fashioned yet another West Virginia upset _ this one in two overtimes. The junior guard scored a career-high 29 points _ 19 of them in the two overtimes _ and the Mountaineers sent No. 2 seed Wake Forest to another stunning second-round loss, 111-105 on Saturday night.
 
Texas Tech crushes Texas-Arlington 69-49

James Augustine scored a career-high 23 points and Jack Ingram added 12 more in the top-seeded Illini's 71-59 win over ninth-seeded Nevada in the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday. Augustine also grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked four shots and had two steals.
 
Wisconsin-Milwaukee upends Boston College

CLEVELAND (AP) - One win wasn't enough for Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Panthers are pressing on in the NCAA tournament. Joah Tucker scored 23 points, Adrian Tigert had 16 and the 12th-seeded Horizon League champions, playing on a floor they know very well, pulled off their second upset in three days, an 83-75 win over Boston College in the second round Saturday.
 
Wichita St. edges Western Kentucky 81-84

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Virginia recruited Takisha Granberry because she could slash to the basket and pass. The 3-point shooting was a bonus. Brandi Teamer scored 17 of her 23 points in the second half, Granberry hit two key 3-pointers to help break it open and Virginia celebrated its return to the NCAA tournament after a one-year absence with a 79-57 first-round victory over Old Dominion on Saturday night.
 
Bucknell seeks to make more history

Adam Morrison listened to Few yelling out changes as he checked his blood sugar level. It was high, so the sophomore lifted his jersey and stuck a needle filled with insulin into his stomach. The horn blew, signaling the teams back into action.

Elder combined to score on six straight possessions in the second half, leading the Yellow Jackets to an 80-68 victory over George Washington in the first round of the NCAA tournament Friday night. Jack had 20 to lead the Yellow Jackets, who never won by more than eight points last year in their march to the championship game.

Bucknell stuns third-seeded Kansas 64-63

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - In their 110th season, the Bucknell Bison finally won their first NCAA tournament game. And, wow, what a victory it was. Chris McNaughton banked in a hook shot over Wayne Simien with 10.5 seconds left, then Simien missed an open 15-foot jumper at the buzzer, giving the 14th-seeded Bison a stunning 64-63 victory over third-seeded Kansas on Friday night to shake up the Syracuse Regional.
