STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Virginia Tech used experience to beat back Missouri every time its lead was threatened. The Hokies' four senior starters _ who have been to the NCAA tournament every year _ played with poise and ran a crisp offense in the opener to hold off Missouri 82-51 Sunday night.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - After a long layoff, Boston College found its game in time for the NCAA tournament. Brooke Queenan had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Aja Parham scored 16 and the Eagles beat Notre Dame 78-61 in the first round of the women's tournament Sunday night to snap a five-game losing streak.

In his second tourney game Sunday, the Texas freshman guard was only doing what his coach told him to do. Abrams was aggressive and took open shots, scoring 16 points as the Longhorns advanced to the Atlanta Regional semifinal with a 75-54 victory over North Carolina State.
