Michigan State heads to Final Four again

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Michigan State recovered from Kentucky's 3-point prayer that sent the game into overtime, taking over in the second extra session and pulling away for a 94-88 victory Sunday to cap a weekend filled with heart-stopping finishes. The Spartans are headed to their fourth Final Four in seven years, and will face North Carolina on Saturday.
 
Pitino right on schedule with Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Rick Pitino is right on schedule. College basketball's great rebuilder needed four seasons to guide Louisville from crumbling program to the Final Four, just like he did at Kentucky in the early 1990s. He got Providence there in two years in the mid-1980s and is the first coach to take three teams this far in the NCAA tournament.
 
West Virginia nicks Kentucky 70-65 in 2OTs

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Meg Bulger had 31 points and 11 rebounds and West Virginia extended its longest postseason run ever, holding off Kentucky 70-65 in double overtime in the semifinals of the Women's NIT on Monday night.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - The red hot Lady Bears are headed to the Final Four, a feel-good story for a Texas school usually on the sidelines when titles are passed around. Sophia Young scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and No. 2 seed Baylor beat top-seeded North Carolina 72-63 Monday night in the finals of the Tempe Regional. Young, whose mother came from the West Indies to see her play for the first time, was named the regional's MVP.
 
California suspends WR Jordan, DB Hicks

"This is a dream come true," the 45-year-old Pearl said after becoming Tennessee's sixth coach in 16 years. "I feel like I am prepared."

McCants swished a clutch 3-pointer and had two huge blocks on the other end, leading the top-seeded Tar Heels to an 88-82 victory over Wisconsin on Sunday in the final of the Syracuse Regional.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Women's basketball will have a new champion this year _ finally. Connecticut's remarkable run is over. Stanford made all the right plays down the stretch and got 21 points from freshman sensation Candice Wiggins to beat Connecticut 76-59 on Sunday night in the semifinals of the Kansas City Regional.
 
Lady Vols to face Rutgers in Philly final

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Shyra Ely scored 23 points and led the top-seeded Lady Vols into their 20th regional final with a 75-59 win over Texas Tech on Sunday. The Lady Vols (29-4) will play Rutgers in the Philadelphia Regional on Tuesday night for a trip to the Final Four in Ely's hometown of Indianapolis.
