Duke player's lawyers seek more evidence

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Lawyers for one of three Duke University men's lacrosse players charged with rape say in a motion filed Thursday that they want prosecutors to give them details about how the defendants' accuser described the men she says attacked her.
 
Oklahoma escapes further NCAA sanctions

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma escaped major sanctions Thursday from an NCAA inquiry into nearly 600 improper recruiting telephone calls it deemed a result of former men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson's "decision to consciously ignore certain recruiting rules."

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The NCAA banned new Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson from calling recruits and visiting them off-campus for one year on Thursday, ruling he deliberately broke its rules by making extra phone calls to potential players while coaching Oklahoma.
