Arizona wins eighth NCAA softball title

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - After throwing more than 1,000 pitches in a week to lead Arizona to its eighth NCAA softball title, Taryne Mowatt finally admitted the obvious. "Now that the week is over, I can admit I'm extremely tired now," said Mowatt, who set a Women's College World Series record by pitching 60 innings. "My arm, it's felt better." But it was well worth it.
 
LSU sprinter runs blistering 10.02 100

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Trindon Holliday emphatically stamped his name on the list of rising young American sprinters with the third fastest time in the world this year. The LSU sophomore was clocked in 10.02 seconds in the 100-meter semifinals Wednesday night at the NCAA track and field championships. Holliday outshone the better-known Walter Dix of Florida State in the semis on the opening day of the four-day competition at Sacramento State.
