NCAA to keep closer eye on betting lines

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The NCAA plans to begin more closely monitoring betting lines on games and to start background checks on baseball and hockey officials as part of its antigambling efforts.
 
Hall honors Calhoun with permanent exhibit

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Jim Calhoun's basketball career has come full circle and just about every step of it now will be preserved for posterity. Connecticut's winningest coach unveiled a permanent exhibit honoring him and the school's program at the Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday. Calhoun, 63, has led the Huskies to two national titles and 15 Big East titles, and has been named Big East coach of the year a record four times.
