NCAA, NBA to help high schoolers?

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - NCAA president Myles Brand said Monday it might be time for the NCAA to work with the NBA, other basketball organizations and even shoe companies on a plan that would better prepare high school athletes for success in college.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Colt McCoy was selected as the starting quarterback for No. 3 Texas on Monday, ending a battle with fellow freshman Jevan Snead to replace Vince Young when the defending national champions open the season against North Texas.

Texas Tech names Harrell starting QB

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Sophomore Graham Harrell has been selected as the starting quarterback for No. 25 Texas Tech, and in Saturday's opener against SMU he'll become the first underclassman to lead the Red Raiders' wide-open offense since 2001.
