MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - For an opening night, Memphis coach John Calipari enjoyed the way his team played. Chris Douglas-Roberts led the way with 21 points and five others played strong supporting roles in the No. 13 Tigers' 111-69 rout of Jackson State on Thursday night.

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Duke lost plenty of scoring punch when J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams moved on to the NBA. If the new Blue Devils keep playing defense like this, it might not matter. Freshman Brian Zoubek scored 17 points Thursday night to lead 11th-ranked Duke to a 75-48 rout of North Carolina-Greensboro, the third straight team the Blue Devils have held to less than 50 points.

For the fourth consecutive game, No. 10 LSU held its opponent to fewer than 45 points, with a 65-31 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday night. The Lady Tigers limited Louisiana-Lafayette to 22 percent shooting, and forced the Ragin' Cajuns into 21 tunovers.

STORRS, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut freshman Tina Charles outbattled teammate Brittany Hunter for a T-shirt thrown into the stands last week during a Connecticut men's basketball game. On Thursday night, she outbattled everyone on the court, scoring 18 points and grabbing 17 rebounds as No. 8 Connecticut routed Colgate 81-37.
