CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) - Stephen Ames had his golf clubs shipped to Tucson, Ariz., last weekend so they would be there when he arrived for his next PGA Tour event. One phone call changed everything.
 
Thomas Bjorn withdraws from Match Play

CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) - Thomas Bjorn withdrew from the Match Play Championship on Monday because of a sore neck, allowing Stephen Ames to get into the 64-man field and face Tiger Woods in the first round.
 
Sabbatini survives scare to win at Riviera

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Losing a four-shot lead was bad enough. What rekindled the fire in Rory Sabbatini was hearing a crowd rooting so hard for Fred Couples that it began cheering Sabbatini's misfortune. And when the South African made another sloppy bogey on the 15th hole to slip into a four-way tie for the lead Sunday in the Nissan Open, he knew it was time to turn it around.
