WASHINGTON (AP) - It was just before takeoff when NBC Sports executive Dick Ebersol saw slush sliding off the charter jet. The wings looked clear to the pilots, so they tried to leave without deicing.
 
Buddy Marucci named Walker Cup captain

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Olympic silver medalist Sileshi Sihine ran the fastest 5,000 meters of the indoor season and Ignisious Gaisah recorded the season's best long jump at the GE Galan meet on Thursday.
 
Last quarantine at Turfway Park lifted

FLORENCE, Ky. (AP) - The quarantine on some horses at Turfway Park was lifted Thursday, a move officials said brings to an end all restrictions at the track because of equine herpes.
 
New York City girl scores 113 points

NEW YORK (AP) - Epiphanny Prince was instructed to maintain her intensity on the court, despite the less-than-stellar opponent and apparent lack of a challenge. The 5-foot-9 high school senior scored 113 points for Murry Bergtraum High School in a 137-32 win over Brandeis High School, breaking a girls' national prep record previously held by Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller.
