NOME, Alaska (AP) - Norway's Robert Sorlie traversed one of the slushiest trails ever, overcoming insomnia and a dwindling dog team to win his second Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in one of the closest races in years.

KHANTY-MANSIYSK, Russia (AP) - Sven Fischer of Germany won the men's sprint event Wednesday to strengthen his lead atop the World Cup overall standings. His teammate Katrin Apel dominated the women's sprint race for her first World Cup victory in three seasons.
