BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Marathon marked the first competition in the World Marathon Majors _ a two-year challenge to crown a marathon champion. Runners earn points for their finishes in the Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York marathons.

Cheruiyot sets Boston Marathon record

BOSTON (AP) - Robert Cheruiyot pounded the same pavement that another Kenyan did in setting the Boston Marathon course record 12 years ago. Only Cheruiyot had a lot less company and needed one less second to break the tape.
