INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Sportscaster Chris Schenkel, whose easygoing baritone won over fans during a more than six-decade broadcasting career in which he covered everything from bowling to the Olympics, died Sunday following a long battle with emphysema. He was 82.

NEW YORK (AP) - A winter in Dubai has worked wonders for Stellar Jayne. The 4-year-old filly went wire-to-wire for an easy 1 1/2-length victory in the $300,000 Ruffian Handicap on Sunday, re-establishing her credentials as a horse to beat on Breeders' Cup day at Belmont Park on Oct. 29.
