Officials to persist on Qatar Olympic bid

DOHA, Qatar (AP) - If Doha's bid for the 2016 Olympics does not succeed, the Persian Gulf country will try again. Qatar recently proposed its capital as a candidate to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, Sheik Saoud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, secretary general of the Qatar Olympic Committee, confirmed Monday. It has held meetings since the Asian Games began Dec. 1 with various groups, including the organizing committees for Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
